The Secret about Consistency

Read time: 2 minutes

When it comes to building a successful YouTube channel, one of the most commonly held beliefs is that content creators must constantly upload new content ideas in order to stay relevant or stay on the algorithm.

NOT SO SIMPLE.

While it’s true that consistency is important, this belief can be misleading and result in burnout, low-quality content, and even a decrease in audience engagement.

The Flawed Belief

Creators often believe that they must

  1. Produce daily content

  2. Produce new content

This belief places far too much emphasis on quantity over quality.

It can lead to a “hamster wheel” mentality, where creators are constantly churning out content without taking the time to truly hone their craft or connect with their audience.

Viewers can tell when your content is rushed and lacks authenticity.

THEY KNOW CRAP WHEN THEY SEE IT.

Instead, creators should focus on producing content that is high-quality, authentic, and meaningful to their audience.

You don’t have to come up with new ideas for every single video.

It is easier to find 1000 ways to present the same idea instead of finding 1000 ideas.

Use content ideas that already work and find new ways and angles to present them rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.

I create YouTube videos that follow a specific team within a specific video game & my audience loves it. So I continue to create similar videos over and over again.

Shifting Your Mindset

To shift your mindset from constantly producing new, mediocre content, to producing high-quality content, start by taking a step back and evaluating your goals for your channel.

Are you creating content in order to

  • Connect with your audience & build a community

Or are you trying to

  • Hit certain metrics

Once you have a clear understanding of your goals, take the time to plan and produce content that aligns with those goals.

When you prioritize quality over quantity, you’ll find that your audience engagement and retention will increase.

This will ultimately lead to compounding success and follower count in the long run.

The Future of YouTube

As YouTube continues to evolve, we’re seeing a shift away from the belief that creators need to produce new content every day to be successful.

Instead, we’re seeing a greater emphasis on building a community around specific niches.

Creators who

  1. Understand their audience

  2. Resonate with their audience

  3. Offer value to their audience

Are the creators who will succeed.

It is possible to build a system where you can produce quality content that resonates with your audience on a daily basis. However, this may take years of experimentation and iteration to land on a system that delivers each time.

Shifting your mindset to focus on building a community that enjoys each piece of content you upload will set yourself up for success in the future of YouTube.

Be Creative.
